If you are looking to scratch on regular turntables and simply want to record it via laptop, you can do a few setups:

1. Tascam TT-M1: The TT-M1 hooks up to any TASCAM CDX series DJ CD player (CD-X1500, CD-X1700) that supports TTM1 and retrofits onto the edge of just about any standard DJ turntable. The highly compact but durable TT-M1 requires no additional special audio hook-ups, no computer, and no special vinyl records but it DOES require that you purchase the Tascam DJ CD Player. It allows you to scratch MP3 and the like.

2. Alcatech's DIgiScratch is probably the BEST setup to get for what you would like to do. I demo'd this at the MobileBeat DJ Show in Vegas. It starts at $350 but it gives you everything you would need.

3. FinalScratch: This is another awesome package from Stanton. It?s a little bit more than $350 but some consider this to be the best package available.

4. If you don?t want to scratch mp3s, then you can use any sound recording program like SoundForge to record directly from your mixer.

Hope this helps
