Mark Ferrell from Mobile Beat mentions:

The average salary varies from market to market and DJ to DJ, but I'm a very strong advocate for the national average Professional Mobile DJ fee for four hours of standard entertainment to be $1200. Some DJs charge as high as $10,000 for a show and others as low as $150. There are mobile DJs in Beverly Hills, California advertising their fee as $400 and some in Omaha, Nebraska at $850 for a basic service. I believe the basic service of programming music, providing the equipment to do so, making appropriate announcements, creating audience participation, and ensuring the success of an event is
worth an average $1200 per event; and I would encourage you to charge that amount once you were comfortable with providing a solid service.

Do you feel that this is accurate for those who are Mobile DJ's? I know quite a few DJ's who charge too little (me) and those who charge too much based on their performances.

Define "too much" please...

If they command say $10,000 per wedding and they are getting it; is it really "too much?"
