If you are a first-timer or beginner asking for what type of equipment to buy, music to begin with, or anything; post your question or topic here.

okay, so for my birthday, i was askin for a turntable package. my moms convinced that i should get one where i can play c.d.'s, because records are rare! where can i get trance techno dance or any other awesome viynls to use? or, should i just get a c.d. playing mixer?! i was thinkin maybe i could get the dm2.. (dm squared).. my homie said you get the feel of real turntables, but if i use that would it limit my selection of music. please help me out, and if you could, e-mail me at burnoutthestars@hotmail.com
i know i prolly sound really pathetic, but i've been wanting to learn since i was like, 13 or 14.. seriously! but now i actually have a chance to get what i need to start practicing!! shed some pity on me and help out.. pleaz! thanx and luv to all..

Hey "i",

There are tons of records (vinyl) that are still being pressed with the latest trance, techno, house, etc. The only difference between CD and vinyl is your preference or your selections. If you have tons of CD's, then start off with a dual CD player. If you have vinyl, then get turntables.

I agree that you get better feel of control with vinyl and some people consider starting off with CD players is kind of cheating due to the technology out there and the effects and auto-beat counters.

I started off with CDs and mixed in with vinyl. Getting a true understanding of being a mixing DJ should always start with vinyl. Its like a labor of love. CD players are easier than turntables in my opinion. Its all about what you need and like.
