1.The Art Of War
from Filiquarian
Price: $3.99

Customer Review: Rating
This is indeed a great book, then the ancient Chinese might not fully know what to do in warfare.
But now this book as well as too many other books tells us only what to do, does not tell us how to do.
The issue of how to do is perhaps the most difficult point in any activity.

My husband entered Iraq in June of 2003 shortly after the Marines in this book. He spent 15 months there as a Blackhawk crewchief and until I read this book I had NO idea the nightmare that he bear witness to. I would like to tell Mr. Evans how much I love his book and how much it opened my eyes to... more info

This book is ideal for carrying with you everywhere. Don't be deceived by its small size, because it contains everything you need to know. The permanent and global chinese military theory from a classical author. Its style and content characteristics support the idea of one unique author. It is of very easy reading and very long full comprehension. It is like to be defoliating an artichoke or an onion. With each useful reading, more... more info

5.The Coldest Winter: America and the Korean War (Thorndike Press Large Print Nonfiction Series)
from Thorndike Press
Price: $31.95

Customer Review: Rating
Halberstam must have spent considerable effort expanding this out to 600+ pages. His insights are repeated, ad nauseum, throughout the text. The narrative switches back and forth; between US pols, Tokyo and scant coverage of the battlefield itself. Each transition is burdened with fluff, and the... more info

Of course the writing is amazing but this edition is a wonderful possession. The book I bought (library binding) is great! 7.The Making of the Atomic Bomb
from Simon & Schuster
Price: $13.60

Customer Review: Rating
Few schooled in 1950-60s can fail to remember clumsy `duck-and-cover' squats choreographed in lockered hallways or under classroom desks. The nuclear age, born at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, bestowed omnipresent dread (and an appreciation of farcical drills) in children who (ironically)... more info

9.On War
from Wilder Publications
Price: $9.99

Customer Review: Rating
It is an extensive work, since it fits with the epoch, in which writing little was a sign of inconsistency, little importance and scanty reflection. The books or parts that compose it were finished in variable degree by the author, whose premature death did not allow its conclusion. I am interested... more info

10.The U.S. Army/Marine Corps Counterinsurgency Field Manual
from University of Chicago Press
Price: $10.20

Customer Review: Rating
This review is more about the product return service than the book itself, though it is excellent. The book was first shipped to me damaged, but amazon had a very easy to use and straightforward return policy, and they replaced the book with no charge. Other than the wait, there was very little... more info
