2.The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley (MAXNotes Literature Guides)
from Research & Education Association
Price: $3.95

Customer Review: Rating
Malcolm was a pretty messed up individual, if I must say so myself. He destroyed many lives, he treated black women as worthless, he peddled in drugs and crime, he placed a mere human being above everything. But he changed. And what's so amazing about this autobiography is the range of emotions it... more info

4.Development as Freedom
from Knopf

Customer Review: Rating
I was disappointed with this book. It's really not the least bit insightful or helpful--opening your eyes driving through any slum would yield the observations available here.
Look for something else if you're considering this book, or borrow it from a library instead of purchasing.

I purchased Souls for an assignment; it arrived quickly and is quite the page turner. At $2.50, this book will be far more valuable to my son (in 10 years or so). I would have preferred hard cover to ensure greater preservation. Its uncanny the similarities with Du Bois and your new president. This... more info

7.On Liberty
from Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc.
Price: $12.95

Customer Review: Rating
In the Introduction to "On Liberty," Currin Shields, an English egghead, bemoans the fact that Mill's most "famous" essay is "more talked about than read."
I'm surprised it is even talked about, and I am very much NOT surprised that hardly anyone reads it. Mill takes about a hundred and twenty... more info

8.No Future Without Forgiveness
from Doubleday

Customer Review: Rating
This spiritual/religious based book is presented differently than Gandhi, Tolstoy, and other philosophers that I have read. This book is more rooted in the events of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, a board that Desmond Tutu headed after apartheid ended. The goal of this board was to grant... more info

Honestly before reading this I use to get mad that there was so much racism around and that I thought that as a mixed woman I had it bad because I had two different colors in me. After reading this you will change your view.
