Editorial Review

More than 24 million people run in the United States alone, but 65 percent will have to stop at least once this year because of injury. Still others will choose to run through the pain. But in this groundbreaking book, ultramarathoner Danny Dreyer teaches us the running technique he created to heal and prevent injuries and also to run faster, farther, and with much less effort at any age.

ChiRunning employs the deep power reserves in the core muscles of the trunk, an approach that grows out of such disciplines as yoga, Pilates, and t'ai chi. This excellent step-by-step program offers training principles and is easily learned.

Dramatically reduce your potential for injury Make knee pain and shin splints a thing of the past Greatly reduce post-run recovery time Create a safe and effective training program Make running any distance enjoyable whether you're a beginning runner or a seasoned competitor

I just started running, and this is my first booked I've read based on the subject. I'm not into the Tai' Chi philosophical part of the book, but I think there is some solid basis for many of the techniques described. I've been working on the technique for a week now, and it does seem to be of benefit. I haven't seen any huge leaps yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I do as I get it down better. Having a partner doing this with you would be of huge benefit.
  • I found instant results Rating

I remember reading an article several years ago in Runners World magazine on Chirunning and it gave me the impression of being "Cultish" and I just didn't buy it. Having finished 2 marathons(walking or crawling due to injury) and with my latest injury, I read in Dean Karnazes latest book how he will often lean forward(or backwards) to use different muscles. I remembered Chirunning and how it... more info
  • Received used book in place of a NEW edition Rating
I believe I ordered a new book and not a "Used but looks like new". I received a used book and don't htink I will ever go with this particular seller again and would recommend you to do the same. The name of the seller is Kerbearstats.
  • A Life Changing Book Rating
This is a book that can change your life. On the surface this book is about "harnessing chi" to improve your running, but it's more about developing proper technique and developing your run into a meditative experience. This book helps you develop proper foot strike and position, leg bend and swing, posture, lean, arm swing, breathing, focus, developing speed and distance, as well as how to focus your mind on the run and improving. The authors also cover basics of stretching, hydration, nutrition ...... more info
